Aluminium is a unique metal that is used by most people on a daily basis. You may have aluminum in drink cans that hold your favorite drinks or in airplanes that soar through the air high above. Aluminium can be formed into various shapes, which is known as profile. This profiles get polyvalent USE, since It can be used for window frames, doors, and even furniture that you can find in your house. We produce aluminum profiles with a company called Common, and we'd like to show you how this wonder metal is extruded into every shape imaginable.
Aluminum profiles manufacturing process is very interesting and is a multi-step process. First, workers take large blocks of aluminum — called ingots — and melt them in a large furnace. It superheats this furnace and it melts the solid aluminum into liquid metal. Once melted, the aluminum is then poured into a mold that is in the shape of the profile we are creating. The mold gets cooled until the liquid aluminum solidifies, or in other words hardens and retains the new shape. The profile needs more steps, after demolding, to make it beautiful. These include for example cutting it down to the right size & polishing it so its smooth & even painting it to give it a nice color.
Common and other companies use many different techniques to create custom aluminum profiles. Extrusion is one popular technique. During the process, the hot, melted aluminum is pushed through a special mold (called a die) to create the necessary specific shape. You can think of the die like a cookie-cutter—the aluminum flows into the desired profile. Another technique referred to is machining. This is achieved by machining away excess aluminum from the profile. The process of machining also makes it possible to create certain geometries or configurations that might be hard to achieve with extrusion alone. We need both these techniques to achieve good quality in aluminum profiles.
Due to numerous reasons, aluminum profiles are really much in demand in various construction works. The reason is, they are really strong and can withstand over a time. The other reason being they are versatile in that they can be utilized in a multitude of ways In addition, as compared to other metals, aluminum is extremely lightweight, offering ease in transportation and building installation. Common’s aluminum profiles are used for everything from window frames that let in light to walls that provide support to roofs that shield structures from inclement weather. In addition to these industries, they also have widespread applications in the automotive industry, where they are used to manufacture parts and frames for cars as well. The versatility of aluminum profiles makes them ideal for a wide range of construction and manufacturing applications.
We take our responsibility to the environment seriously at Common. We explore ways to minimize our footprint on nature. Aluminum profiles are energy-intensive to produce and we try to use renewable energy sources wherever we can. Energy that comes from natural and mostly renewable resources, such as solar and wind energy We recycle as many materials as possible, such as leftover metals and packaging materials. Moreover, we apply innovative technologies that support water and energy in-process savings. Aluminum profile making in this way is more eco-design but we must consider our ecosystem.
Aluminum profiles are utilized in various industries from construction to aerospace. Custom Aluminium profiles are made as per requirements with specific dimensions. A designer can come to Common if they want to create a unique modern storefront. In addition, aluminum profiles are widely used in the furniture industry, where they are often used to create sleek and modern look that complements any home or office. What can you do with custom aluminum profiles? These tools can be modified to suit the specific requirements of projects and assist the designers and builders to achieve wonderful stuff.
